The Sauna World Championships – Heat and Steam to the Extreme
Held every August in Heinola, Finland, the Sauna World Championships challenge male and female competitors to test their tolerance for heat and humidity inside two 230-degree Fahrenheit Nordic spruce saunas set on a stage before a grandstand of gawkers. The last person to leave the sweltering sauna on his or her own volition without breaking any of the contest’s rules wins. With winning times typically around 15 minutes, medics stand by… just in case.
